Artwork Description:
Lagos Island to Mainland: Three Gateways is an acrylic on canvas landscape painting of parts of Lagos Island with Lagos Mainland in the horizon. One of my answers to the question on whether I do landscape on big canvas or not by art critics and patrons among others because of my abstract laden professional background. Hence, the inspiration for this realistic/romantic landscape of parts of Lagos Island with minor part of Lagos mainland shaded into the horizon. The three bridges (Eko Bridge, Carter Bridge and Third Mainland Bridge) that linked the Island to the mainland are the three major gateways. Some landmark buildings were captured while some in the foreground were romantically embellished with traditional African motifs and forms for aesthetics enhancement with a peculiar Nigerian/African essence.
