Artwork Description:
Swange is an ethnic dance peculiar with the Tiv people of Benue state in the middle-belt area of Nigeria. It is an erotic dance that involves the rhythmic movement of the body of the dancer. It is a dance with fast, slow, rhythmic and undulating movements, expressing youth and vigour, which make some refer to it as the ‘boneless dance.’ It is danced in unison by both men and women.
