Artist Bio
<p>Awodiya Toluwani Samson is a passionate Portrait/Figure Artist and expressionistic Painter whose work imbibes the use of African symbols, patterns and motifs. He grew up in Ogun State where he had his Primary and Secondary Education. He proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile -Ife, Osun State for his tertiary education, where he studied Fine and Applied Arts and majored in painting. In 2017, he graduated with a Second Class (Upper Division). Afterwards, he went for the compulsory National Youth Service Corps, to serve his country as expected by every Nigerian where he was posted to a prestigious secondary school in another state; the Federal Government College, Ilorin; imparting his knowledge of Fine Arts to the students of the school. He has showcased at several exhibitions both within and outside Nigeria. Some of these exhibitions are: Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA) Art Exhibition ‘October Rain’ (2019), MyDrim Art Gallery Affordable Art Fair (2019), Life in My City Art Foundation competition (LIMCAF) (2019) (where he was one of the finalists), Araism 17, 2021 and Art X 2022. He’s had three solo exhibitions; One in the United States of America ‘LEGACY’ 2021, ‘ECHOES OF SERVITUDE’ Dubai 2022 and ‘INTERWOVEN EXISTENCES’ Luxembourg 2023. He is a member of the Society of Nigerian Artists Lagos chapter and won the ‘Emerging Artist’ of the year award; ‘ARTru’ concert and awards 2022 and also won an award of excellence as the ‘Best painting Artist of the year’ by Nike Art Gallery 2022. He’s had two Art Residencies outside Nigeria. One at the Burren College of Art, Ireland 2022 and I-A-M Art Residency, Berlin, Germany 2023. He is currently exclusively signed to Zidoun-Bossuyt Art Gallery in Luxembourg with branches in Dubai and Paris.</p>
